Umm Al Emarat Park celebrates Emirati Women’s Day

In collaboration with distinguished Emirati artists.

Umm Al Emarat Park, named after the Mother of Nation, Fatima bin Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and the woman behind the initiation of Emirati Women’s Day,  will  celebrate Emirati Women’s Day through a collaboration with distinguished Emirati artists, including Maisoon Al Saleh, Asma Alkhoori, Asma AlMehairi, Hind Rashid, Shamma AlDhaheri, and Sara Alkhoori.
A selection of their art pieces, created using various techniques such as pencil sketching, oil painting, and blind contour drawing, can be found on display at the Park and on the Park’s social media channels. The collection of art selected embody the pride, strength, joy and meaning of being an Emirati woman, and shed light on the important role they have played and continue to play in their society.
Rasha Kablawi, Head of Umm Al Emarat Park’s Corporate Affairs and Communications Department, said: “On this day, we take the opportunity to thank Emirati women for all their contributions and their vital role in making the UAE what it is. This initiative that is possible thanks to these talented Emirati artists, expresses our tremendous pride and gratitude to all the inspiring, dedicated, and committed Emirati women. We hope this art display will tell the story of the women of the nation and empower female Emirati artists by giving them a platform to showcase and display their work.” 
Emirati women across all fields continue to make their mark and reach new heights, acquiring accolades and achievements that lift the nation and its people up to new ranks globally. 
Maisoon Saleh, a multidisciplinary Emirati artist, said: “I am very happy to be participating in this distinctive initiative launched by Umm Al Emarat Park, as it provides a platform for inspiring Emirati artists and aspiring artists.  For my art piece, I chose to draw the Emirati Women’s Day slogan immersed underwater, as it weaves together the power of Emirati women and the UAE’s important past of pearl diving.”
Additionally, Emirati artist Asma Alkhoori said: “I’m grateful to Umm Al Emarat Park for this beautiful initiative that gives Emirati artists the opportunity to celebrate this special day by paying homage to Emirati women through their work. I participated with a pencil-drawn sketch that brings Emirati heritage to life by depicting girls playing ‘Al Mariyhana’ - an old popular Emirati game for the young and old - showing a spirit of friendship, love and cooperation between them.”
Umm Al Emarat Park is a meeting place that builds on the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his vision of preserving the United Arab Emirates cultural and natural history. Since its establishment in 1982, it has partnered with local and international organizations to leverage its multi-purpose venues, connect communities and host bespoke arts and culture events for hundreds of thousands of guests.
