Umm Al Emarat Park turns campaign into a community movement
Through its #GrowAtHome campaign.
With activities that keep the community connected with the Park, nature, and each other.
As humanity faces one of its most serious and uncertain crises in recent history, people are collectively building a new normal based on solidarity, support and coming together in heartwarming and creative ways. As part of its collective responsibility, and the role it plays in supporting and promoting the UAE government’s efforts to drive innovation in the face of adversity, while protecting the health and wellbeing of the community, Umm Al Emarat Park launched its #GrowAtHome campaign on April 14.
The campaign sought to alleviate the angst that comes with staying home and enable the community to stay connected with the Park, nature, and each other, by providing them with activities that engages them, allows them to grow their skills and gives them a sense of purpose, fulfilment and accomplishment, while also bringing them together from afar.
Since its initial launch the campaign has been widely accepted and has quickly turned into a community movement showcasing talents, skills, activities, innovation, and growth from home. Community members of all ages are engaging with the Park’s social channels, sharing their various activities to encourage, motivate, and inspire one another. Umm Al Emarat Park is calling on more people to take part by sharing their best recipes, work-outs, games, ideas to further push this movement that is keeping us connected to one another, keeping us driven, and most importantly keeping us safe at home.
The campaign initially focused on bringing the Park’s experience home to residents by including recipes from the Park’s restaurants, work-outs from its fitness facility, origami and balloon modelling tutorials from the Park Rangers, as well as bringing nature home through gardening tips, and images of the Park’s large green spaces. However, as the campaign grew popular, the Park’s partners and other well-established businesses reached out to collaborate and take part in different ways. Emirates Nature is set to hold a live Q&A session on connecting with nature from home amongst a line-up of other activities revolved around wellness, fitness and nature, and Seven Wellness is providing the Park with online yoga sessions. L’Atelier des Arts and Art Beat are generating arts and crafts videos, and Slime n’ Lite are sharing healthy video-recipes.
The Park has an important role in community building and providing resident with a shared space, and an opportunity for connection and growth. It also encourages individuals to stay at home as a call of public duty and collective responsibility in the fight against COVID-19, and has taken all the precautionary measures to safeguard the health of its visitors, employees, and the community at large. The Park looks forward to welcoming back the larger community, upon government directives, and until then is committed to still allowing its visitors to explore the Park’s facilities, experience what it has to offer, enrich its visitors’ wellness, and educate them through recreation - online.
